It can be overwhelming to manage the transition to a new home. The decision to move is often heart-wrenching. When you add in other life changes, it can be difficult to manage it all! This is where we come in to provide compassionate assistance throughout the moving process.
Planning for the move
Our move manager will meet with you at your home to help figure out what you need to get ready for your move. Then, you decide where you can use the help. Even if you don’t have a moving date yet, it is not too early to start planning and organizing.
Space planning
We will measure the rooms of your new house or apartment to determine which furniture items will fit. Once we have the dimensions of each room, we will sit down with a visual board to review placement of furniture. This is an important step to ensure successful relocation.
Organizing & sorting
We will be your personal downsizing assistant. We can help you decide what to keep versus what to sell, donate, or toss. We understand this is often an emotional time. We help to break this phase of the move down into smaller steps to keep it going at a comfortable pace.
Arranging for donation, sale, or disposal of unneeded items
We make sure the things you want to hand-down, sell, donate or discard get where they need to go. If you choose to have an estate sale, we will help organize items for the sale. We can also assist with hiring an estate sale specialist and listing items for sale online. We will arrange for donations to the organization of your choice.
Packing
We will provide the moving boxes and supplies and pack your belongings with care. We will make a detailed inventory and make sure the things you use most get packed last.
Scheduling movers
We want to ensure that you are getting a reputable moving company at a reasonable cost. We will schedule the chosen moving van. If you are moving to a senior living community, we will coordinate with the staff to ensure a smooth relocation.
Managing move-in day
We will oversee the movers and supervise the loading and unloading of the truck. We will make sure the movers do not forget anything. We ensure you have access to your most needed items immediately at the new home.
Unpacking and new home setup
This process includes unpacking, hauling packing materials away, and setting up each room in the space. We will assemble anything that requires it, setup electronics, make the beds, hang the artwork, and organize the closets. We set up your new home to be safe and as much like the old as possible. As a result, you can enjoy your new home right away.
Preparing old home for transfer of ownership
We will make your home look more appealing to buyers. We will clean, paint, and fix the little things. We know when to call in outside help and will assist you in hiring reliable service providers as needed.
